BALINESE BEDROOM RETREAT

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Color Scheme

Inspired by our honeymoon to Bali and Thailand, this room was designed to evoke a serene outdoors-in retreat. We upgraded to a king bed with a warm wood and textured fabric headboard canopy, reminiscent of the indoor-outdoor sleeping spaces we loved. The wood tones set a soothing, earthy palette, accented with tropical greenery for an immersive, peaceful atmosphere.

Built-In Elements

To bring the warm wood elements throughout the room, we installed vertical wood strips stained to match the bed on either side of a long photo ledge. This not only added architectural interest but also provided a perfect spot to display framed vacation photos and other momentos from our trip.

Furniture

We sourced brutalist dressers that matched the bed's wood tone, adding a Balinese touch to the room. A beaded chandelier, enhanced with additional beading for a more substantial look, and black sconces above our bamboo wood barrel nightstands provided perfect lighting for late-night reading.

Decor

Decor elements included photos taken on vacation, framed colorful cash, and a Raffles hotel poster found on FB Marketplace. Wall art in the form of baskets, some from our travels, and beaded pillows on the tribal-patterned duvet cover added texture. Greenery in every corner, including plant hangers from a local market, mimicked Bali's lush surroundings.

CONCLUSION:

This bedroom transformation brought the serene, outdoors-in vibe of our Bali and Thailand honeymoon into our home. With a cohesive color scheme, thoughtful built-in elements, curated furniture, and decor that evoked fond memories, we created the perfect retreat. Ready to transform your home?
