Color Scheme
In this client's home, we wanted the dining room to seamlessly flow with the open kitchen and living area. To anchor the space and define it from the adjacent kitchen, we added vertical shiplap two-thirds up the wall, painted in a sophisticated slate blue that coordinates with the living space. Above the shiplap, a lighter shade of the same blue brightens the room and ties the color scheme together beautifully.
Built-In Elements
The dining room is a "bump out" feature that leads to the back porch, so we focused on scale to ensure the table allowed plenty of walking space for guests. We chose a rectangular wood table that matches the flooring, and a coordinating bench to minimize space around the table. The vertical shiplap adds texture and depth, creating a cozy yet elegant dining area.
Furniture
