PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
Color Scheme
In this client's new build home, we started with a fantastic canvas but aimed to amplify the drama to match the grandeur of the 11-foot ceilings in their ranch floorplan. We retained the existing cabinetry, countertops, appliances, and flooring, focusing on adding elements to embolden the space. The kitchen's color scheme was elevated with the addition of black handle pulls throughout, tying in with other finishes and creating a sleek, modern look.
Built-In Elements
To utilize the extra space above the upper cabinets, we added a second row of glass-front cabinetry. This not only provided additional storage but also allowed the display of colorful serving items and collector's pieces, adding the pop of color the owners desired. The biggest upgrade was the geometric, almost-retro marble backsplash. This stunning feature, with shades of greys and whites, extended up the sides of the outer pantry walls, drawing the eye up and highlighting the soaring ceilings.
Furniture
For furniture, simplicity and functionality were key. We chose sleek black wood kitchen stools with backs, ensuring safety and comfort for the small children who would be visiting. A runner was added to warm up the space and break up the flooring, adding texture and comfort underfoot. The final touch was the installation of high-end glass globe pendants. These added an architectural feature without obstructing sightlines from the living or dining room, maintaining the open and airy feel of the space.
Decor
Decor was kept minimal yet impactful. The glass-front cabinetry allowed for colorful displays, adding a personal touch to the kitchen. The geometric marble backsplash served as both a functional and decorative element, creating a striking focal point. The addition of a runner and sleek black kitchen stools provided both comfort and style. High-end glass globe pendants added elegance and architectural interest, enhancing the overall aesthetic without overwhelming the space.
