DRAMATIC BLACK & WHITE FULL BATH
Color Scheme
This was the biggest renovation we did at our first home, a full gut of the main bath in our 1950 bungalow. The original bathroom featured outdated 4x4 square tiles and minimal lighting. We transformed the space with a modern black and white color scheme. The walls and shower stall were retiled with organic wavy subway tiles in vertical columns, bouncing light throughout the room. The upper walls and ceiling were painted black to match the vanity and other elements, giving the bathroom a luxurious feel.
Built-In Elements
We gutted everything except the unique-sized porcelain tub, which was in perfect condition. The new tile work included hexagon marble flooring for drama and substance, and black penny tile on the ceiling of the arched shower stall for a fun, unexpected touch. A less deep vanity was installed to make the narrow space easier to navigate. Electrical work was done to feature a top bar light, providing much better ambiance. We added a wood ledge to end the wall tile, and installed two shelves on either side of the new arch mirror for storing bathroom essentials, decor, and plants.
Furniture
The bathroom renovation included a brand-new, less deep vanity that made navigating the narrow space much easier. An all-new toilet was also installed, enhancing the functionality and modern look of the room. The vanity, painted black, tied in perfectly with the overall color scheme and added a touch of elegance. The wood ledge and shelves provided practical storage solutions while keeping the space stylish and organized.
Decor
To finish the space, we incorporated stylish and functional decor elements. The black penny tile on the shower ceiling added a unique and modern touch. The wood ledge and shelves not only provided storage but also allowed for the display of decor and plants, adding a touch of greenery and warmth to the bathroom. The black upper walls and ceiling, combined with the luxurious materials and thoughtful design, made the bathroom feel chic and inviting.
CONCLUSION:
This main bathroom renovation turned a dated space into a modern, luxurious retreat. With a black and white color scheme, elegant tile work, and practical built-in elements, this bathroom now serves as a stylish and functional part of our home. Ready to transform your home?
