MODERN BUDGET-FRIENDLY FUNCTIONAL BATHROOM UPGRADE

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:

Color Scheme

This bungalow bathroom makeover began with a focus on updating the color scheme. The old tile was a dated ivory, so I utilized tile and tub paint to transform the floor and shower stall into a bright white, creating a fresh and clean look. The vanity was painted a crisp black to contrast with the new bright tilework, while the vanity top was also painted white to match. An ombre striped wall effect was added on the sloping wall and back wall, drawing the eye up and adding a playful touch to the room.

Built-In Elements

We repurposed many pre-existing elements to stay within budget, including the vanity, tile, and light fixture. The light fixture was sprayed black, and new reeded glass globes were swapped in for a modern feel. The bifold shower door was replaced with a frameless glass one, creating a high-end, chic appearance. In the awkward nook behind the vanity, I built a narrow countertop and wall-mounted a mirror with Hollywood lighting, creating a bright and functional space for hair and makeup. Shelving was added above the toilet for convenience.

Furniture

To maximize the use of space, a stool, rolling cart, and makeup drawer system were seamlessly integrated into the nook behind the vanity. The slanted wall was embraced with the ombre striped design, enhancing the room's character. The door was replaced with a barn door painted black to match the home's interior doors, saving space and adding a stylish touch.

Decor

Minimalistic decor was used to keep the space open and airy. A runner rug tied in with the mural wall's color scheme, while plants and greenery added a natural element that thrived in the bathroom's humidity. These simple yet effective decor choices brought the whole look together, making the bathroom feel both modern and welcoming.

CONCLUSION:

This bungalow bathroom makeover turned a dingy space into a bright and inviting haven. With repurposed elements, creative use of dead space, and modern touches like a frameless glass shower door and ombre striped walls, this bathroom became both functional and chic.
